Cultural Camps

We run cultural camps and cultural activity days for children and young people in Victoria throughout the year.

The camps and activities are for children in care (foster care, kinship care, residential care or leaving care) or transitioning to leaving care aged from 6 to 20 years old. The children and young people have a wonderful time being immersed in culture and grow up proud and strong.

Camps usually run over 2-4 days. Cultural activity days are usually one day with no overnight stay. There are opportunities for past participants to become youth leaders in subsequent camps to build their leadership skills and cultural connections. All meals, travel and accommodation are provided. Carers are not expected to attend the camps and activity days.

We offer 

• Painting, dancing, cooking bush tucker, rock climbing, spear hunting with sticks, playing traditional games
• Share knowledge and learnings about songs, stories, art, tracks, places, landforms, plants, animals and natural resources
• Learn from Elders and about the significance of local heritage, stories, totems and examples of clan obligations with the aim to foster long lasting connections with culture.
