Lakidjeka - Aboriginal Child Specialist Advice and Support Service (ACSASS)

Lakidjeka is an Aboriginal service that provides advice on the Best Interests of Aboriginal children and young people when Child Protection are making decisions regarding children and young people's safety and wellbeing. This includes providing when Child Protection are responding to notifications of alleged abuse or neglect of Aboriginal children. This service is state-wide except for Mildura and Swan Hill.

What we offer Expert advice on

  • Culturally appropriate interventions
  • Significant child protection decisions
  • Culturally appropriate referral services.

We also offer involvement in all aspects of casework for the Aboriginal children - from home visits through to court and case planning and case closure.

Lakidjeka runs state-wide and can only be accessed by Child Protection. However, VACCA does not operate in certain areas, the ACCOs providing ACSASS in these areas are:
